Occlusion

Providing comprehensive solutions to our patients’ dental problems, we have been treating occlusal disorders for many years. One of the causes of occlusal disease may be orthodontic abnormalities.

The loss of even a single tooth or the eruption of wisdom teeth can lead to occlusal problems. Flat dental fillings that do not reproduce the natural shape of the tooth — including cusps and grooves — also contribute to the development of occlusal disease.

There are many symptoms of occlusal disorders, one of the most common being involuntary tooth wear. Any mobility of the teeth should also raise concern. Sensitivity to cold or heat, as well as pain when biting, are additional indicators of the problem.

These symptoms often accompany migraines and/or muscle pain. It is important to remember that untreated occlusal disease can have serious consequences and may even lead to tooth loss. For early diagnosis, it may be helpful to ask your partner whether you grind your teeth at night.

Our diagnostic methods and treatment of occlusal disorders allow for:

  • protection of teeth against wear,

  • elimination of nighttime teeth grinding,

  • reduction of muscle tension in the head and the headaches it causes,

  • restoration of a healthy, beautiful smile,

  • harmony of the entire chewing system.

The most important benefit patients receive from accurate diagnosis and treatment by our doctors is the guarantee of maintaining healthy teeth for many years, along with relief from discomfort and symptoms associated with occlusal disease.

It is also important to remember that correct positioning of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) can influence seemingly unrelated problems such as muscle pain, spinal discomfort, or headaches.

Because occlusal disorders often develop silently in their early stages, we recommend regular diagnostic check-ups. They help prevent potential complications and discomfort associated with the progression of the disease.
